His great story goes as follows; |
- *******************************************************************************
My knife is a 3-1/2" "Old Timer" with almost three blades. I've
carried it, lost it, broken it lost it again, repaired it and continue carring it
for
over 25 years. The knife's 1st blade has a small rounded end . The 2nd has a long
straight blunt end. The 3rd was a curved back and sharp edge , pointed end until I tried
many years ago to pry somthing and
broke it. The repair was to cut off the stub of the broken blade at a 60 degree angle to
the sharp edge. This has become the most useful of the three blades. Of course the other
blades have all sorts of BSA camping functions. Carving, cutting all manner of camp
crafts, removing
splinter from fingers & other places.
But most times when sterilized, it has prepared numerous meals. I used to spend days at a
time sharpening the blades, but recently discovered
paper wheels, and now I sharpen all three in 2 minutes. That cut off-broken blade is
perfect for chip carving. When its sharp enough to
shave my 60 year old beard, it slices
thru that boxwood like butter. Not an exiting story, but a good ole knife that is even
better than when I purchased it for $6.00.
